Reading: Its Good for You.

Last night was crazy at U-31 so I decided to slow things down a bit and enjoy a lazy Sunday.  I woke up with the mother of all hangovers around 10:30AM or so and stopped by Coffee Bean to pick up some coffee for myself and the roomies. While running errands, I picked up a copy of "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer because of all the hype surrounding the series.

Initially I wasn't expecting too much from the book, especially considering that its targeted towards younger readers, but... I actually ended finishing the book in one sitting! Six hours later, I had finished the book and was contemplating on running to B&N to get the sequel. It turned out to be a really engrossing story.. not very thought provoking and definitely not up there with the classics, but if you're looking for something that will keep you entertained it is a good read.

Idealistic romance, dashing hero, ridiculously good-looking vampires.. its a twisted modern day fairytale.

My rating: 4/5

Nice One, ABC.

So recently I heard some of the worst news this year and I am completely, utterly devastated over it...

ABC has cancelled "Pushing Daisies" - one of the most original, entertaining shows on television.. and also my favorite. Its the one show that I've actually attempted to keep up with every week and now.. its cancelled. Stupid ABC execs.. I might as well burn down my tv now.

I could go on more about the whole thing... about how well-written the script was, how original the concept of the show, and how devastatingly HANDSOME Lee Pace is... but its all just too painful to talk about right now... hahaha.

RIP Pushing Daisies :(

Witnessing History in the Making

Election Night, Tuesday, November 4th 2008 - Barack Obama is elected the 44th President of the United States, the first African-American to hold this position in the nation's history. I feel fortunate to be living in this time and to have been able to witness this historic event.

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America."

- Barack Obama during his victory speech, Chicago, Illinois

Inspiring, moving, eloquent words from a man who will hopefully make history in more ways than one. Undeniably, Barack Obama has a a staggering amount of challenges in store for him.. but I am hopeful and optimistic that our new President will guide this country to stability, peace, prosperity and unity. To me, its not important who wins, but what the winner does for this country.
