Happy Birthday Terry and Joe!

Saturday afternoon, I headed down to Mira Mesa with Scott and Brett to Terry and Joe's bbq/softball game. By the time we got there, both the bbq and the softball game were in full swing, and everyone had shown up to celebrate Joe and Terry's 23rd birthdays. Photos courtesy of Josie.

Us girls finally got to play in the third and final game. The birthday girl and I donned our matching baseball tees. Team Korea FTW!

Once the sun started to go down, the bbq came to an end. I'm definitely down to play again.. we should make it a regular outing. Happy 23rd birthday Terry and Joe!!

Earth Hour 2009

Its about a half hour into Earth Hour, where you turn off the lights as a vote to urge governments to take action against global warming. I'm sitting in the dark with Terry and Jomo over at Bumsville where we've lit a couple candles and are chatting and listening to music. We just got back from Terry and Joe's bbq and softball game, which was a huge success. Pictures from the bbq to come later.

Go green for an hour and make a difference!

This Kind of Shit Irritates Me

On the front page of the LA Times online this morning, an article catches my eye.

A family's year of 'buying black'
An Illinois couple travels far to buy groceries, gas and even vitamins from black-owned businesses. What if, they wonder, all African Americans made the same pledge?
By Ted Gregory
March 10, 2009
Reporting from Chicago -- Maggie Anderson drives 14 miles to buy groceries, which might seem curious given that she lives in bustling Oak Park, Ill. She and her husband, John, travel 18 miles to a health food store in Chicago for vitamins, supplements and personal care products. They drive some distance for gasoline too.

The reason? They want to help solve what they call "the crisis in the black community." They want to buy black.

The Andersons, African Americans who rose from humble means, are attempting to spend their money for one year exclusively with black-owned businesses and are encouraging African Americans across the nation to do the same.

They call it the "ebony experiment."

Read the rest of the article here.

I hate this. And ladies and gentlemen, here's a perfect example of why to this day, there's a rift in society between African Americans and everyone else. People like these idiots ruin it for everyone by isolating themselves, practicing passive racism, and trying so hard to establish themselves as a separate entity, but are the first to complain when they feel that they are not being treated like everybody else. As if our already struggling economy can be anything but further hurt by an stupid idea like this.

Robert Pattinson is..

Going Back Home: New York

Posted by Jenn On 1:10 PM 2 comments
Word on the street is that there's a trip to NY in the works, scheduled for April 9-15. I'll be flying out with a small group of friends to go enjoy some food, shopping, sightseeing, partying, and to see the 'rents, whom I haven't seen in over a year.

Terry and I just booked the flights! FYI, the airfare is only $99 each way (BUR to JFK) on JetBlue if you book by TODAY.. so if any of you want to join us, today's the day to decide!

No Pain, No Gain

Last Tuesday I had my appointment with Dave to get my tattoo. Four and a half hours under the needle is pretty intense. Thanks to Annabelle for keeping me company (and keeping my mind off the pain). I spent most of the session conversing with Annabelle and Dave so it really wasn't too bad at all.

Earlier today, Razo took some photos of the piece for me. In case you're wondering, the flowers are cherry, apple, and plum blossoms.

I'm really happy with how the piece turned out. Dave is a seriously talented artist, and he was chill to work with as well. It was definitely worth the time, money, and pain! Now I just need to decide if I still want to get it colored.. Hmmm.
