Starting the Weekend on a Wednesday

Posted by Jenn On 10:15 PM 0 comments
About two weeks ago, I went on a little excursion up to LA. TK and Ruby picked me up on Wednesday night and we headed to Jessica's crib in Long Beach. Four people in a four seater; not so bad. Once we got to LA, TK stopped by the Comedy Store in Hollywood to pick up Chachy. Total headcount in TK's 4 seater G: Five.
First stop was the Nike/Obey party where we met up with Melissa.  We enjoyed some free vodka cocktails courtesy of Belvedere while listening to DJ Z-Trip spinning on the tables.
After getting sufficiently intoxicated, the six of us crammed into TK's ride and headed over to Winston's. When drunk, anything seems possible! I swear I still have bruises on my ass from sitting on the center console in the backseat.
Camera shy

At Winston's, we encountered more drinks, and an overly aggressive guy who couldn't take a hint. Ruby, Jessica, and I spent most of the night trying to avoid being pretty much dry humped by a guy who would move on to the next victim once his current prey escaped. PREDATOR! After Winston's, TK, Chachy, Melissa and I headed back to Chachy and Melissa's condo in Hollywood where hilarity ensued into the late hours of the night... don't ask.
The following morning was breakfast at Panera, after which I got a sneak peak at the Hellz Bellz headquarters while TK handled some business. For the umpteenth time in my life, I forgot my phone - this time at Chachy's condo, so we ended up staying in LA longer than originally planned.  Sorryy!
Cheers!

We grabbed some drinks and food with James and Stacy and then headed back to San Diego. The original plan was to go to Airport Lounge right after but I was so exhausted from LA that I had to skip out on the event. I guess I can't hang with the big boys.. [TK]! Our escapade that Wednesday left me partied out before the weekend had even begun.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Posted by Jenn On 9:50 PM 0 comments
This is going to sound really girly but I still need to figure out what to wear tomorrow! How is it that I have 50+ (Ok, I underestimated the number initially. I thought 30 at first!) dresses in my closet right now and I have nothing to wear? I don't want to go buy something new to wear when I have so many clothes that I can't fit all of them in my walk in closet. Is it a problem? Yes. Am I proud of it? Not really.

I am officially a shopaholic.
.. including me! I'll be celebrating New Year's Eve at House of Blues hosted by TK and Victory Nightlife. Come join in the festivities!

I went to Onyx on Friday night and spent the night over at casa de Bumsville. The next morning Annabelle, Megs, and I went to go get pho and I had some trouble backing out of that monster of a driveway in front of the house. Instead of helping, Megs decides to take pictures of me struggling. What a good friend.

Posted by Jenn On 1:46 PM 0 comments
So after I got back from Vegas, I told James my Vegas story.. the one that I didn't post on here because it was just too ridiculous and in all honesty, not very flattering. HAHA.
James also just got back from Vegas recently and I remember telling him before he left that he better have a story as good as mine when he got back:

AIM IM with james*********** 12/22/08 1:36 PM

me: tell me

james: what would you like me to tell you?

me: the elevator story

james: haha ok

so 13 of us met up at palazzo and started pre-drinkin for tao

and everyone was trashed

we killed bottle of goose, skyy and ketal

so we all get into an elevator and one of us thinks it'd be funny to jump

so he counts down, and probably 7-8 of th epeople jump together

me: oh god

james: and we end up breaking the elevator

me: HAHAHA

james: 13 of us....in one cramp ass elevator for 2 hours

total lord of the flies

peoples true colors started to show

me: wth 2 hours????

james: and it was fuckin HILARIOUS

yea 2 hours

they had to send in oxygen

3 people peed....

one girl...

me: goddamn

james: the last person there was no more room in the bottles so we just yanked the door open and he peed out the elevator

me: hahahahhaha

james: b**** is sitting indian style in the corner drunk as fuck

me: where the fuck are the pictures??? HAHAHAHA

james: pictures will be up... i dunno if we have pictures from the elevator

Seven Pounds

I just got back from watching Seven Pounds with friends and I have to put it on my list of recommendations - but only if you've got the patience for slow paced movies. Its a pretty emotional movie with a heavy storyline so avoid it if you're looking for lighthearted entertainment. I hate to admit it but it did make me tear up a bit during certain parts of the film.
Short synopsis from IMDb: "An IRS agent with a fateful secret embarks on an extraordinary journey of redemption by forever changing the lives of seven strangers."

Rosario Dawson plays the female lead.. she's gorgeous! I never really noticed it in her previous movies because they've usually got her looking kinda well.. butch. She's got this unconventional beauty about her.
Seven Pounds - 3.5/5

Around the World

Attempting to blog on every day of my life would drive me insane.. therefore I'm gonna have to skip on some things here and there. I'm really late on this one but last Friday was Alvin's sweet sixteen + 10 so he had a huge house party at his new crib.

I'm not gonna lie. I got THRASHED at this party for sure..  and no, that's not a typo of trashed. I mean thrashed as in alcohol and I got into a fight and I had my ass handed to me on a silver platter. I pretty much blacked out by midnight and if you got there after that time, I probably 1.) didn't know you showed up because i was knocked out on the couch, or 2.) didn't recognize your face. This was thanks in part to Alvin's genius theme for his party, which was "Around the World".

I showed up to Alvin's and was presented with a passport with four countries: USA, Mexico, Japan, and Norway. Here's a few details and I'll let you do the math:
  • USA = Jack Daniels
  • Mexico = Tequila
  • Japan = Sake
  • Norway = Vodka served via ice luge
  • OBJECTIVE = Get your passport stamped in all four countries.
  • PRIZE = An "I Read Alvinisms" bandana in the host's favorite color, "blood" red. You bang??
gangsta little red riding hoods

Within 10 minutes, I had taken 4 shots and was on the quick path to a very bad place. Let's just say Annabelle and I made a few too many trips to Norway. Last thing I recollect from that night is slipping on spilled beer on the kitchen floor and busting my knee. FAILED.

I woke up in the morning to a couple different things: a busted knee, a random girl next to me who turned out to be Megs, and a mass of sleeping bodies downstairs. The rest of the day was spent in ultimate hangover status. The party was definitely memorable and everyone had (too much) fun! Happy birthday Alvinism!

Tonight is Kimtan's birthday dinner at MSC and I have one thing to say...

thank God there's not gonna be a luge.

Truth.

Check out the new video look book for 5&A Dime.. I do believe that's our Mr. Toe-Knee Nguyen featured in it! Keep an eye out for TK's ultra smooth hat tricks. Hahaha!

Back to Basics.

I need to slooow down and enjoy the small things in everyday life. I noticed I'm always in such a hurry that I sometimes miss the meaning behind things that friends say or do for me, or overlook the beauty in things around me. When did life get so hectic?

I'm learning to reappreciate the things that you sometimes don't notice until you pause and take a moment to think.

thanks for the pic apes! xoxo

Have a beautiful day!

Apes and I are at Filter coffee house in North Park. Its our first time here and its definitely a chill spot.. just the right amount of ambient noise where its not so quiet that you're afraid to have a conversation with friends, but not loud to the point where you can't get work done. The decor is very cozy with ample seating but even on a Monday night, its pretty packed. Service here is a bit slow, but there's only one barista so its understandable. As far as drinks go, I recommend the mocha bianca.. yummy! The best part about the place? Its open till 2AM 7 days a week!

Apes just got her new macbook so we're messing around with our photo booths right now.

Comic book versions of us.

Annabelle and her friend Diane just got here!! More photo booth madness..
we are so sexy.
annabelle: "is this what you guys have been doing the whole time?"
me: "yes."
and look what's right next door to Filter..!

It was a great night.. I don't think I've ever laughed so much while sober.

I'm not a very superstitious person, but there is one thing that I've been a true believer in and its that there is bound to be bad weather on my days off. Case in point: I just finished a seven day stretch of work last week and although the weather's been pretty cold, not a single day out of those seven has it full out rained like it is right now.
I had big plans for today, so I woke up bright and early... only to hear the wind howling outside and rain battering the windows of my house. I had planned to drive up to Irvine to run some errands, meet up some old friends and maybe squeeze in some shopping so I decided to brave the weather and headed out. As soon as I got on the 78 it was obvious that driving in the downpour was not such a good idea.. the roads were just flooded and there were broken tree branches and debris everywhere. I pretty much got as far as the first exit and turned back around to go home. Failed.

The undeveloped lot next door is now a second pool.

So, new plans... who's down for some hot chocolate and snuggling by the fireplace? Hahaha ;)

Incredibad

The Lonely Island - Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer
Nice sweater, Samberg.

So I was listening to the radio on my way to work Friday morning and they were talking about a yet-to-be-released album called Incredibad. Its the debut album from The Lonely Island, a group of which one of the members is Andy Samberg of SNL fame, that's also going to feature some big artists such as Norah Jones, Justin Timberlake, Jack Black, E-40 and T-Pain. The release date is set for 2-10-09.
Andy Samberg is so hilarious... Lazy Sunday is one of my all time favorite videos!

All the F-in Things.. Vegas 12.08

Posted by Jenn On 9:11 PM 1 comments

There was just TOO much goin' on in Vegas to blog about.. but here's the rundown with pictures courtesy of Megs, TK and Kimtan..

Day 1:

After a long, crazy fun drive in the party van, we arrived in Sin City around 1am.. checked into our room at IP and as soon as the girls were ready, we headed out to Rok. After Rok, we rendezvoused with Chachy and hopped onto his party limo bus to Seamless, from where we made a quick exit and ended up at Drai's for afterhours. TK, Megs, and I left Drais around 7am and made a painful journey from there to Denny's.

Note that we are all in our clothes from the night before, walking the strip in broad daylight. Seeing as how TK was KOed in our booth at Denny's, Megs and I made the call to take the food to go back to our hotel room and grub there. ETA to hotel: 8:00AM.

Day 2:

We all woke up around 1:30PM, groggy and dehydrated from our antics from the night before. Grubbed, shopped, and killed time until the Pacquiao - De La Hoya fight.

Verna, Jenny, and Kimtan drove up from SD to join us, and Tristan flew in from NY! We all ended up watching the fight from our room on the laptop. After Pacquiao's victory, we all (unsuccessfully) took a "four" minute nap. Then it was time to get ready for Prive. In all honesty, Prive was mostly a blur for me. Memories from that night consist of almost being drowned with vodka, a complete lack of balance, and a guy walking around on stilts.. haha.

After we left Prive, I somehow ended up wandering drunk and aimlessly all around the casino, played the slots for a bit and lost my blackberry.. haha! Luckily someone had turned it in to the security desk so I didn't lose my phone. We ended up going to Chachy's suite at the Palazzo and then left the next morning.

Day 3:

By Sunday, our hotel room looked like a warzone.. 10 people, luggage galore, and only two beds.

We checked out of the hotel room around noon and headed to Aloha Kitchen for one last meal in Vegas before embarking on our drive home. Midway in Barstow, we made a pitstop at Pizza Hut to grab a bite to eat, and then finished the last leg of our journey back to SD.

Winning highlights of the trip..

Chachy: Most in need of an exorcism.
Three letters... W T F??

Fredo and Lovelyn: Most likely to out-party YOU.
These two are the ULTIMATE ragers.. they're just unstoppable!

Verna: Most unaware of the camera
Love, you just have the most awesome party faces!

Megs: Most loyal Pacquiao fan
Megs gettin' loose after Pacquiao's victory.. its a celebration, bitches!!

All in all, it was definitely one of the best times I've had.. till next time!

... of December, that is = the last (?) LAS VEGAS trip of 2008! Here's the flyer from TK's blog, who's going to be co-hosting an event out there.. check it:

Three day weekend, great company, and undoubtedly loads of alcohol.. throw in the energy you can only find in Vegas, and it should definitely make for an awesome mix! Come join!!

What else is there to say other than life is good? I woke up early, picked up a copy of "808s & Heartbreak"(.. had to, especially after hearing it in Jeremy's car! Kanye is THE MAN.)
Then I headed over to Starbucks and chilled with a peppermint mocha and my trusty laptop trying to figure out the details for the trip this weekend.

This weekend is going to be absolute MAYHEM! Today at work felt like the longest day ever.. kinda like that feeling you have on the last day of school before summer starts. I should be packing right now but I'm blogging instead and debating on heading to Bar D tonight. Procrastinating as usual.. what else is new?

Yet Another Reason to Get Drunk

Posted by Jenn On 2:36 PM 0 comments
As if we all needed another inciting reason to get drunk, there's a new website thats being advertised recently called BuyYourFriendADrink.com. Hence the name, you can buy drinks for friends from the site by sending them vouchers via text or email that can be used at select bars throughout the US.

Does anyone else think this is a somewhat ridiculous business venture?? First off, I'd only buy a friend a drink if I was there with them to benefit from it.. ie. get drunk with them, watch them get drunk and make asses of themselves for my entertainment, or the obvious... take advantage of them while they're drunk. Hahaha.. jk on that last part!

I do say it could come in handy in instances when you can't make it to a friend's special occasion event that calls for a celebratory drink.
